Hyaluronic acid. Ring a bell? Probably. It’s everywhere these days. You’ve probably heard about it from beauty influencers or have read it on the label of some skincare products, from serums and creams to face masks. But what exactly is it? Does it something you should add to your skincare regimen? I thought the same things, and want to share what I learned with you.

Here’s what you need to know about this recently popular skincare ingredient.

A Closer Look at Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a substance that the body naturally produces. The skin, eyes, and connective tissue usually produce the highest amount of this substance. It functions as a lubricant by retaining water to keep your tissues moist and function smoothly.

A single gram of the substance is capable of holding about six liters of water. It can also regulate that moisture within the cells, preventing them from drowning (and if that’s not a skin hero, I don’t know what is!).

You can use this substance in different forms. Some people take it orally as supplements, but it can be administered through the skin, too. You can find it in many beauty products, like topical serums and creams.

Why Do You Need It in Your Skincare Regimen?

Do you want your skin to look and feel hydrated and healthy? Then you must make HA a part of your skincare routine. The wonder ingredient works hard to replenish your skin’s stores of hyaluronic acid when the aging process and exposure to environmental factors, such as UV rays from the sun, pollution, and tobacco smoke, eventually decrease your body’s ability to manufacture it on its own.

Products that contain HA help the skin lock more moisture in, making it more radiant and softer. You get Insta-filter, right there. The appearance of fine lines and wrinkles also decreases when skin is hydrated. These products are perfect if you have aging skin.

Additionally, the substance performs well when combined with other ingredients in various skincare treatments. You can pair hyaluronic products with peels, vitamins, and retinol for better results. You should stay away from acids with low pH levels, like glycolic acid, however. These types of acid might degrade the HA and make it less effective.

Hyaluronic acid also makes everyone happy because it works for any skin type. Whether you have oily, dry, or combination skin, you’ll never be left behind. Admit it; it can be frustrating if a so-called wonder ingredient does not suit our skin type, after all!

Must-Try Hyaluronic Products

Hyaluronic acid is a star ingredient in many skin care products today, as I’ve mentioned. Since it’s so prevalent, however, you can find plenty of products with HA in the market. It’s become much harder to decide which ones actually deliver results. As I searched for skincare solutions containing this “star” ingredient, I discovered the Kedma skincare products.

Kedma is a luxury skincare brand already known for its great products which are rich in Dead Sea minerals. These minerals offer several benefits on the skin, such as removing impurities and reducing inflammation. When I found that it also had products that utilized hyaluronic acid in conjunction with their signature ingredient, I knew I had to get my hands on them. It definitely sounded like a powerhouse skincare product.

So, I bought the brand’s hyaluronic line, the Hyaluronic Signature Gift Set. It consists of four products:

  • Facial Restoring Mask – it helps reduce the depth of wrinkles and eliminates puffiness under the eyes.
  • Personal Wrinkle Filler – it promises to cover signs of aging on the skin instantly, improving the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Elixir++ Hydrating Day Serum – this product hydrates the skin to make it firm and radiant. It contains vitamin A to diminish visible fine lines and wrinkles, and vitamin E to protect the skin from harmful radicals.
  • Elixir+ Nourishing Night Serum – it also helps replenish the moisture in the skin, plus it has vitamin C that fights wrinkles and fine lines.

Each product is also available per piece. You can choose only the products you think you need the most (hint: THE SERUMS).

How I Use my Kedma Products

I use the mask at least twice a week. I apply it after cleansing my face and leave it on for 15 minutes. When I remove the mask, I make sure to spread the residue gently until my face has fully absorbed the product. Then, I rinse my face with warm water and pat dry it. I apply my usual moisturizer right after.

The day and the night serum, meanwhile, are part of my daily skincare routine. I apply the day serum in circular motions in the morning after cleansing and before putting on my makeup. At night, I apply the night serum after cleansing. If you use a night cream, apply the serum first.

I haven’t used the personal wrinkle filler because I don’t have visible lines yet. But in case you want to use it, wash your face thoroughly and put moisturizer on first. Inject a small amount of the product to the affected area and pat the cream over the wrinkles. As much as possible, avoid applying the cream in circular motions.

After a month of using these HA products, I noticed some improvements to my skin. It feels plump and it’s smoother than before. Since I have dry skin, these skin-moisturizing products are a godsend. I also had less dry patches than before.

Embrace Youthful Skin

Hyaluronic acid deserves all the hype it gets today. It also deserves a space in your skincare arsenal. Using products with HA as one of its main ingredients gives you supple and radiant skin in no time. You don’t have to spend too much time doing a ten-step skincare routine.

Although the substance promises to work well with any skin type, I can’t speak for everyone. I can say with confidence, however, that hyaluronic products are ideal for people with dry skin like mine. Its ability to store moisture in your skin reduces scaly and itchy patches in the long run.

If you’re like me, who feels more confident knowing that my fine lines and wrinkles are almost unnoticeable, I recommend using the Kedma’s Hyaluronic products. Going beyond your skincare budget is all right as long as you’re paying for products that deliver results.

Of course, our skins react to ingredients differently. My skin might have improved using HA products, but it doesn’t mean it would work exactly the same way with yours. Consult with a dermatologist to determine if HA is good for your skin and in what form should you use it.

If you haven’t used hyaluronic acid before, it could be the one your skin needs to bring back and maintain your youthful glow. But if you have tried an HA product before, tell me what you think.
